The University of Western Ontario (UWO) has a dynamic and thriving startup and VC ecosystem. Its entrepreneurship center, the Pierre L. Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, provides a platform for students and alumni to learn, innovate, and launch successful startups.
One prominent success story from UWO is the creation of the Voice Verified startup by Darren Meister, an alumni of the Ivey Business School at UWO. Voice Verified offers biometric voiceprint technology, a secure method of verifying a person's identity. This startup has since grown into a hugely successful enterprise, affirming UWO's commitment to nurturing innovative ideas and converting them into profitable businesses.
Aside from successful entrepreneurial endeavors, the university has also produced successful VC investors. Kelsey Ramsden, another UWO alumnus, has enjoyed a successful career as a venture capitalist. Ramsden was awarded as Canada's Top Female Entrepreneur by Profit and Chatelaine magazines in 2012 and 2013. The Propel Entrepreneurship is another notable initiative by UWO to support its startup ecosystem. Propel serves as a startup incubator, providing student entrepreneurs with mentorship, resources, and workspace to develop their businesses. The Program has been instrumental in fostering entrepreneurial culture amongst students and helping several startups to launch and grow.

This program is designed to help startups to grow by providing them with management training and helping them to secure venture capital funding. The program is supported by Ivey Business School and has a strong record of success in accelerating the growth of startups.
