The Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) is the world's largest venture capital competition with 70+ universities competing across 3 continents. Run by UNC Kenan-Flagler and held annually, VCIC distinguishes itself by having students act as venture capitalists evaluating startups rather than as entrepreneurs pitching to investors. Teams of 6 MBA and undergraduate students role-play as VC firms managing ~$100MM investment pools, evaluating actual pitching startups, conducting due diligence, setting valuations, and preparing term sheets. 12 regional competitions feed into the Global Finals in Chapel Hill where panel judges (8-10 venture capitalists) evaluate teams on overall startup selection and investment strategy. The competition provides practical experience in deal evaluation, valuation, and term sheet preparation.
