The AI Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Global Challenge is a Shenzhen competition that began at the 2025 Brain Expo and became a global challenge in 2026. It is organized by the Chinese Neuroscience Society's Technology Transfer and Innovation Committee, the Shenzhen Brain Science Society, the Shenzhen Brain Science and Brain Engineering Industry Alliance, Shenzhen Angel FOF and Blue Ocean Capital. It launched on June 16, 2026 together with NeuroHub Accelerator, Blue Ocean Capital's incubation platform for brain science and BCI.
The 2026 challenge had four tracks: upstream BCI technologies (electrodes, sensors, chips, AI algorithms); non-invasive BCI and consumer applications; invasive and semi-invasive medical applications; and breakthrough neurobiology based on novel targets.
All shortlisted teams took a two-day training camp; semi-finalists joined a six-week deep acceleration program with dedicated advisors. Blue Ocean Capital set up a dedicated fund using SAFEs for staged direct investment, and works with Shenzhen Angel FOF and more than 100 investment institutions on follow-on rounds, plus labs at SIAT and fast-track hospital collaboration.
2026 recruitment ran June 16 to July 4, 2026, followed by initial screening, a boot camp, an online preliminary round and the Shenzhen Challenge on July 31, 2026. Contact: bp@bocggp.com. No 2027 edition has been announced.
