BLCK VC Scout Network

The BLCK VC Scout Network is a scout-training and community program created by BLCK VC for Black scouts and angel investors who want stronger sourcing, diligence, investing, and co-investor networks. It launched in 2021 with Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital as founding partners.

The BLCK VC Scout Network aims to address the underrepresentation of Black individuals in venture capital by providing training and mentorship to aspiring Black scouts and angel investors. The program focuses on empowering participants to make informed investments and build effective networks within the venture ecosystem.

Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate their commitment to the program and their investment experience in their applications.

Eligibility requires participants to identify as Black or African American, have made at least one investment into a venture-backed company, and be able to commit to the program's structure.

Participation in the BLCK VC Scout Network requires meeting specific criteria: Must identify as Black or African American, have made at least one investment into a venture-backed company, and be able to commit to the 6-month program structure with consistent attendance.

Participants receive a structured curriculum developed by industry-leading venture professionals, access to educational content, monthly educational convenings, bi-weekly Deal Group meetings, expanded network access, co-investment opportunities, portfolio company introductions, and mentorship.

The program lasts for 6 months, with an intensive four-week curriculum followed by monthly convenings and bi-weekly Deal Group meetings.

The program has trained multiple cohorts of Black scouts who have gone on to make investments in venture-backed companies, participate in deal groups, and build networks across the venture ecosystem.
