Fellowship
Breakthrough Energy Fellows is a flagship program of Breakthrough Energy, the climate innovation organization founded by Bill Gates. The program is part of Breakthrough Energy Discovery, a comprehensive platform dedicated to advancing pre-venture, early-stage clean technology innovation with global impact potential.
The program supports scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs developing breakthrough climate technologies—not incremental improvements but step-change advances that could reduce or capture greenhouse gas emissions by 500+ million tons annually at scale, or meaningfully address climate adaptation.
Breakthrough Energy Fellows provides institutional support, catalytic funding, mentorship, and access to the extensive Breakthrough Energy ecosystem of investors, technologists, corporate partners, and government entities. The program has launched multiple cohorts of innovators working across industrial decarbonization, sustainable materials, clean agriculture, and other critical climate technology domains.
