Scout Program
Accel Starters Europe is the European arm of Accel's global scout program, launched in 2021 as an expansion of the US program that began in 2017. Each scout receives approximately $200,000 to deploy over 2-3 years as angel-sized tickets (averaging $20,000 per check) into early-stage companies of their choosing. The program imposes no minimum quotas or mandated investment frequency, giving scouts full autonomy over their deployment pace and strategy.
The European cohort launched with 21 scouts across 12 cities in 10 countries. By 2022, the network had grown to approximately 40 participants. Scouts are hand-picked by Accel partners and are exclusively high-signal operators: repeat founders, senior leaders at breakout scale-ups, or individuals with unique networks and demonstrated founder empathy. The program is led by Accel partner Luca Bocchio along with fellow partner Andrei Brasoveanu.

Accel Starters Europe aims to empower high-signal operators to invest in early-stage companies across Europe. The program focuses on individuals with operational experience and unique networks, allowing them to identify exceptional founding teams early. By leveraging a distributed operator network, Accel extends its institutional capital to the earliest stages of company formation.
By invitation only through Accel partner nomination. Scouts are repeat founders, senior operators at breakout European scale-ups, or individuals with unique founder-facing networks across European markets.
Each scout receives approximately $200,000 in deployment capital over a 2-3 year window. Scouts earn carried interest on realized returns from their investments. Additional benefits include full investment autonomy (no quotas, no minimum frequency), access to Accel's global network and resources, and the ability to invest via uncapped SAFEs or priced rounds.
There is no cost to participate in the program; it is free for selected scouts.
The program operates over a 2-3 year capital deployment window, with scouts added on a rolling basis through Accel partner nominations.
Scouts are expected to engage part-time, with a flexible deployment pace and strategy.
The program operates remotely, allowing scouts to engage from various locations across Europe.
