Accel Starters Program (US)

Accel Starters is the original US-based scout program launched by Accel in 2017, predating its 2021 European expansion. The program provides high-signal operators with approximately $200,000 each to deploy over 2-3 years as angel-sized tickets into early-stage companies. Scouts are nominated by Accel partners on a rolling basis, targeting repeat founders and senior leaders at breakout companies who have unique networks and track records of spotting exceptional talent early.

The program aims to tap into the operator networks that institutional venture firms cannot easily access, extending Accel's reach into the earliest stages of company formation. By equipping trusted operators with capital and Accel's brand, it creates a distributed deal-flow engine that surfaces opportunities before they reach the broader institutional market.

Designed for Founders. The program is remote. Participation is generally part time.

Each scout receives approximately $200,000 in deployment capital over a 2-3 year window. Scouts earn carried interest on realized returns. Benefits include full investment autonomy (no quotas, no frequency mandates), access to Accel's global network and portfolio, the ability to invest via uncapped SAFEs or priced rounds, and association with one of the most established VC brands in the industry.
