Overview

The NYCEDC Founder Fellowship is an accelerator program designed to improve access to capital, networks, and mentorship for underrepresented founders in New York City. The program specifically targets BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and female founders building tech-enabled companies, providing dilutive and non-dilutive capital, mentorship, and access to the startup ecosystem.

Investment Focus

The program aims to eliminate barriers for underrepresented founders and increase funding for BIPOC and female entrepreneurs.

Applications are accepted through an online form, requiring a founder story, company description, and demo or prototype if available.

Compensation

Hybrid

The program offers a mix of dilutive (equity) investment options and non-dilutive capital and grants from multiple funding sources through partner VCs.

Price

Free

There is no cost to participants for the program.

Timeline

Applications open through December 31, 2025, with selected teams announced in February 2026 and the fellowship commencing in March 2026.

Full-Time

The program requires a full-time commitment from participants during the intensive 12-week period.
