Fellowship
DayDream Fellows (formerly GenZ Scouts) is DayDream Ventures’ talent‑development track for students who want a career in startups or venture capital but lack access to traditional “target‑school” pipelines. The fellowship runs each academic semester and compresses the fundamentals of early‑stage investing into an eight‑week, part‑time sprint.
Participants attend weekly live sessions led by venture capitalists, YC‑backed founders and functional operators; topics range from sourcing techniques and cold‑outreach playbooks to TAM analysis, unit‑economics modelling and narrative memo writing. Structured office hours, peer‑review circles and virtual happy‑hours reinforce the material and create cross‑campus bonds.
Fellows put theory into practice by scouting real startups through their university networks. The most promising leads are reviewed by DayDream’s investment team and, if a deal is ultimately funded, the sourcing fellow is publicly credited—giving them a tangible track record before graduation. Alumni resources include a 250‑member Slack, an annual online reunion and introductions to hiring managers at growth‑stage tech companies. Graduates have moved on to YC‑backed founding roles, full‑time VC analyst posts and high‑growth operator jobs, validating the fellowship as a launch‑pad for non‑traditional talent.

DayDream Ventures writes US $30 k pre‑seed cheques into U.S. founders building community‑led growth engines—especially vertical SaaS, B2B fintech and AI that disrupt legacy industries.
Applications open each semester and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Candidates complete a short Airtable form covering résumé, LinkedIn and a brief motivation statement. Selection favours intellectual curiosity, evidence of hustle on campus and a commitment to complete all eight weeks. Finalists are notified by email within two weeks of applying. Cohorts are typically 30‑40 fellows.
The fellowship offers no cash stipend; value is delivered through education, mentorship, networking and potential deal‑sourcing credits.
DayDream charges no tuition or platform fees. Fellows only need a reliable internet connection; optional swag or event travel is self‑funded.
The commitment averages 5–8 hours per week for eight consecutive weeks—one 90‑minute live workshop, one hour of office hours, and independent sourcing or project work.
All classes, office hours and community events are delivered via Zoom and Slack; no relocation is required.
