Scout Program
Angel Squad is Hustle Fund’s flagship community for first‑time and emerging angel investors. Launched in 2021, the program pairs structured education with hands‑on access to the fund’s top pre‑seed and seed deals so that members develop the skills, network and investment track record needed to become confident startup backers.
Cohorts kick off quarterly and begin with a 14‑day free trial that lets prospective members sample live workshops, pitch events and peer discussions before committing. Once enrolled, participants receive lifetime membership. Core curriculum spans Hustle Fund’s deal assessment framework, market sizing, cap‑table dynamics, portfolio construction and legal basics. Sessions are delivered live via Zoom and recorded for on‑demand review.
Every month Hustle Fund screens more than 1 000 companies; Angel Squad members see the two to three most compelling opportunities and can invest as little as $1 000 through AngelList SPVs. In addition, the community’s Circle.so hub hosts written guides, office‑hour replays and founder‑ask forums, while Slack channels facilitate diligence collaboration and informal networking across more than 40 countries.
IRL engagement reinforces remote learning. Hustle Fund organises quarterly meet‑ups in cities such as San Francisco, New York, Miami, Singapore and London, plus an annual “Camp Hustle” weekend of workshops, hikes and fireside chats. Members who pass the Series 65 exam are reimbursed for the cost, expanding participation beyond traditional accredited investors. Today Angel Squad counts 2 000+ members who have collectively invested over $30 million in 70+ startups, including Rupa Health, Karat and Forage. Alumni regularly spin up their own syndicates, join venture funds or raise micro‑funds, validating the program’s mission to create 10 000 new angels.

Hustle Fund backs “hilariously early” software founders worldwide, writing $25 k–$50 k pre‑seed cheques at the idea or MVP stage and then helping teams reach product‑market fit through weekly tactical support, community introductions and follow‑on capital. The firm believes speed, scrappiness and founder hustle—not warm networks—predict outsized outcomes.
Applications are accepted year‑round and reviewed weekly. Candidates complete a short Typeform and, if preliminarily approved, either schedule a 15‑minute call or start a complimentary 14‑day trial. Final acceptance hinges on engagement during the trial and alignment with Hustle Fund’s community values; the only hard exclusion is “no jerks.” Cohorts of roughly 250 new members launch each quarter.
Members are not paid; instead, they gain priority access to Hustle Fund deal flow and any financial upside from their own angel investments. The program also reimburses the $187 Series 65 exam fee for members who pass, effectively covering a pathway to SEC accreditation.
Angel Squad charges a membership fee rather than management or carry: $875 per quarter (cancel anytime) or $3 500 spread over four monthly payments for lifetime access. A 14‑day free trial precedes billing, and occasional scholarship discounts are offered to under‑represented investors. Members still need personal capital to invest in deals.
New cohorts open in January, April, July and October. Each cohort: Week 0 free trial → Week 1 orientation & “Angel 101” workshop → Weeks 2‑12 live deal reviews, peer circles and expert AMAs → Ongoing lifetime access after Week 12.
Expect about 5–10 hours per week: one to two live sessions, asynchronous reading, optional diligence calls and networking events. Participation is flexible and self‑paced after initial onboarding.
All education, deal reviews and peer matching run online; optional quarterly dinners and the annual Camp Hustle retreat rotate across major startup hubs worldwide.
