Fellowship
Vida Ventures created its Fellowship Program to give advanced life‑science trainees a structured, front‑row view of venture investing and company formation. Fellows join the firm’s core investment team in either downtown Boston or Century City, Los Angeles (remote participation is possible) for a four‑ to six‑month rotation. During that time they contribute 15–20 hours per week to the full deal pipeline: meeting founding teams, evaluating scientific and clinical evidence, analysing intellectual‑property positions, modelling competitive and commercial landscapes, and drafting investment memoranda that feed directly into Vida’s internal review process.
Because Vida is an active “company‑builder” as well as an investor, fellows are also pulled into operational and strategic initiatives at existing portfolio companies—everything from target‑product‑profile refinement to finance and business‑development projects. Educational value is amplified through a structured seminar series led by Vida partners and invited industry veterans; optional conference attendance and informal social events round out the experience. The programme is paid, rolling‑admission and intentionally small to ensure each fellow receives individual mentorship from senior investors whose collective track record includes 25+ FDA approvals and multiple IPOs.
Fellows leave with real investment credits, a broadened professional network and a practical understanding of how breakthrough biomedical science is translated into venture‑backed companies—skills that alumni have leveraged to move into roles as investors, entrepreneurs and biotech executives.

Candidates apply on a rolling basis by emailing a cover letter and CV to fellowship@vidaventures.com with the subject “Boston” or “LA.”
Applicants must be late‑stage PhD or MD students, post‑docs or residents with a translational research focus; prior business exposure (MBA, consulting, BD or finance) is viewed favourably but not required. Short‑listed applicants interview with investment professionals and complete a brief diligence exercise.
The fellowship is a paid engagement; fellows receive a cash stipend commensurate with part‑time professional work (amount not publicly disclosed) and, when in‑office, hosted attendance at conferences and team events. No carried‑interest participation is offered during the fellowship term.
There are no tuition fees or programme costs. Fellows cover personal living expenses and any travel incurred if they elect to attend conferences or to work from a non‑local office, but Vida subsidises on‑site events.
The commitment is ~15–20 hours weekly over 4–6 months. Time is split between live meetings, independent research, memo writing and seminar attendance. Duration can be extended by mutual agreement.
Fellows can work remotely but are encouraged to spend at least one day per week in Vida’s Boston (40 Broad St) or Los Angeles (10100 Santa Monica Blvd) offices; schedules remain flexible around ad‑hoc meetings.
