Portal Innovations Venture Fellowship offers emerging biotech and life sciences professionals a structured introduction to venture capital in the life sciences sector. The Fellowship provides a paid opportunity to conduct rigorous due diligence on early-stage biotechnology companies, learn Portal's investment evaluation methodology, and build expertise in scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial assessment of emerging life sciences technologies. The program spans 20-24 weeks of full-time engagement, structured around Portal's operational rhythm and investment pipeline.

Portal Innovations focuses on seed-stage investments in life sciences, targeting companies developing novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and medical devices. The Fellowship aims to cultivate talent in venture capital by providing hands-on experience in evaluating early-stage biotech companies.
Applicants must be currently enrolled PhD students, postdocs, MBA students, MD students, or enrolled in a Master's program with a life science or biomedical focus. Applications are accepted until March 28, 2026.
Fellows receive competitive hourly compensation for full-time participation in the program.
There is no cost to participate in the fellowship.
The fellowship spans 20-24 weeks, with cohorts starting in July (Fall) and January (Spring).
The program requires full-time commitment for 20+ weeks.
The program allows for geographic flexibility, with opportunities to work across Portal's hub cities.
