Emerging scout networks in MENA venture capital.
BeyondCapital’s Scout Program is a Jordan-focused scout and co-investment program that uses selected individual scouts to find early-stage companies, help evaluate opportunities, and support small-ticket investments backed by BeyondCapital. The official co-investment page says 10 scouts look for innovative early-stage companies across creative industries, academia, disruptive technologies, women-led ventures, and social-impact enterprises.
The MENA Scout Program aims to bridge the gap in deal flow identification within the rapidly growing venture capital market in the MENA region. By leveraging local expertise and networks, scouts can identify promising early-stage startups and facilitate investment opportunities for venture capital firms.
Scouts should focus on building strong networks within local startup communities and stay informed about emerging trends in the MENA venture capital landscape.
Entrepreneurs and operating executives with strong founder networks and sector expertise are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of specific sectors such as FinTech and HealthTech is beneficial.
To get involved as a scout, interested individuals should identify firms with an active investment presence in target countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Networking through local communities, tech conferences, and startup hubs is essential, as is contacting firms directly about scout opportunities.
Participants in the MENA Scout Program gain access to a growing venture capital market, opportunities to leverage their networks, and the potential for financial rewards through carried interest on successful deals.
The timeline for engagement as a scout is flexible, depending on the individual's availability and the needs of the firms they work with.
MAGNiTT reported five Scout investments in June 2019 and counted ten scouts on board at that time. These are historical reported activity figures; no investment-return outcome is established by this evidence.
Who can apply, how people get in and whether it is open right now.
Programs pick people whose work they can already point to. Put yours where it can be found.
This one invites people; you cannot apply cold. The way in is work the program can already point to, and the people its own pages name.
VC scouts in MENA typically earn carried interest on deals they source, which ranges from 20% to 50%. Some programs may offer referral-based compensation, and there is no upfront capital requirement to participate as an external scout.
