Overview
The Washington Sea Grant Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR) Fellowship advances responsible mCDR in the Salish Sea by making sure the scientific models used to track and verify carbon removal are informed by the people most affected by them.
The Fellow brings together Tribal rightsholders, coastal communities, environmental justice organizations, resource managers and scientists to share perspectives, build trust and shape how mCDR monitoring and modeling tools are developed and used. A central part of the role is planning and leading a regional community convening, with outreach before the event and sustained engagement afterward.
It is a 12-month position with an award of USD 68,500: a USD 65,000 untaxed stipend plus a USD 3,500 professional development budget. Washington Sea Grant is based at the University of Washington and part of NOAA's Sea Grant network.
