Sorenson University Venture Fund

The Sorenson Impact University Venture Fund is the world's largest student-led impact venture fund, operating since 2001 at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business and Sorenson Impact Center. Students gain experiential education operating a real venture capital fund, making sustainable investments in companies creating community impact in the Intermountain West. The University Venture Fund II is the world's largest independently managed student-centric impact fund, providing students with world-class education while delivering significant financial and social returns.

The student investing program is impact-oriented and industry agnostic, with exposure across fintech, healthtech, edtech, environmental tech, consumer goods, cleantech, justice tech, and other sectors. The program emphasizes targeted investment in underrepresented founders and industries with positive social impact.

Designed for Students, Investors. The program is in person. Participation is generally part time.

Applicants must be registered students attending a U.S. university while living in the U.S.; international students may participate if visa and university rules allow work authorization.

The program is open to students at the University of Utah, allowing them to apply and participate in the fund's operations.

Students receive VC training, one-on-one mentorship, access to senior staff and partners, feedback on deal work, weekly office hours, staff meetings, career guidance, and access to a student and alumni community.

The program has been operational since 2001, with ongoing opportunities for student involvement.

The program has prepared students for venture, private equity, investment banking, consulting, and entrepreneurship careers.
