Scout Program
Alpha Edison is a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm investing in tech-driven industry transformations. The firm operates Campus Capital, a nationwide venture fellows program that embeds university students as deal scouts on their campuses. The program is open to non-freshman undergraduates (sophomores and juniors), MBA students, and other graduate students (Master's and PhD). No prior venture capital experience is required.
The carry structure is the program's central incentive: if a Campus Capital Venture Fellow introduces Alpha Edison to a company that the firm subsequently invests in, the fellow receives a percentage of carry (the returns from the investment) up to a maximum of $500,000 per deal. This is one of the most transparent and potentially lucrative student-facing scout compensation structures in venture capital.
Alpha Edison reimburses business expenses incurred during the on-campus portion of the program, including transportation to startup and tech events, conference fees, and similar costs, up to $500 with more available if necessary.
The program leverages the insight that university campuses are natural hotbeds for early-stage startup activity: student founders, faculty spin-outs, and campus accelerator graduates represent a rich and often under-sourced pipeline for institutional venture capital. By embedding fellows across multiple campuses, Alpha Edison gains distributed deal flow that would be difficult to replicate with a centralized sourcing team.
