The startup scene in Ireland

Dublin has documented university innovation and commercialization activity. NovaUCD, University College Dublin’s innovation hub, reports that it opened in 2003 and has supported more than 650 ventures. UCD also reports more than €1.5 billion in equity funding for NovaUCD’s entrepreneurial community. Trinity describes an innovation and commercialization interface connecting research, founders, businesses, and public bodies; its Innovation Hub emphasizes co-location, R&D collaboration, research expertise, and facilities. Enterprise Ireland reports that it directly supported 28 research-origin startups in Ireland in 2025 and approved 67 national researcher commercialization awards totaling €22 million. Its listed national founder routes include the Pre-Seed Start Fund, offering up to €100,000 for eligible MVP-stage startups, and the Innovative HPSU Fund, listing up to €800,000 for qualifying high-potential technology startups. Stripe describes Dublin as a dual global headquarters and reported opening a 14,500-square-meter Dublin headquarters on October 9, 2025.
