Caltech first and Oxford second. The table doubled to 800 universities from 70 countries, from 400 from 41 countries, in the first edition using Elsevier Scopus data and in-house data collection.
Method changed. Positions in this edition are not directly comparable with the previous one.
Research publication and citation data switched from Thomson Reuters (Web of Science) to Elsevier (Scopus), and institutional data collection moved in house (announced November 2014).
