The startup scene in Belgium

Digital Wallonia includes Gosselies and Jumet within the municipality of Charleroi. ULB identifies its Gosselies campus as the location of BioPark Charleroi Brussels South and attributes BioPark’s creation to a partnership between ULB and UMons. ULB’s November 2025 retrospective dates IBMM’s establishment at the Charleroi Aéropole to 1999 and IMI’s creation with GSK to 2005. [1]

Charleroi’s documented startup and innovation infrastructure includes BioPark and A6K. BioPark describes a 12-month incubation program with a dedicated startup manager for early-stage founders, researchers, and startup or spin-off teams, and attributes technology access to expertise from ULB, UMONS, and IPG. A6K lists its location at Square des Martyrs in Charleroi, advertises hot desks and dedicated offices, and describes access to a 5G lab, computing equipment, and AISIN’s driving simulator. Its startup page identifies energy, communications, operational transformation, cybersecurity, and virtualization as project fields, and advertises support for sales, product development, and funding. BioPark’s incubation page advertised applications when checked October 4, 2026, but submission-form access and applicant-specific eligibility were not verified. The same page advertised a €150,000 Butterfly Fund convertible loan, with availability and eligibility unresolved. A6K provides a meeting-request route without an established dated cohort opening; Sambrinvest offers a finance inquiry form, which is not an investment commitment; and Charleroi Entreprendre describes support across enterprise-project stages and directs founders to public aid or finance providers. Examples of documented company relationships include Conveyxo, whose official page listed a BioPark Charleroi address and described its platform as RNA-enhanced exosomes and its musculoskeletal and metabolic programs as preclinical; and Aerospacelab, which A6K reported in September 2026 was completing a factory in Charleroi and had joined the A6K community in 2021. Aerospacelab’s August 2025 release forecast first production in 2026 and full capacity by 2027; those forecasts do not establish current production or capacity. [4]
