How the ranking works
Ranked by the number of distinct German venture rounds (seed to growth, venture rounds only) each firm backed in the period, using the Dealroom next-gen API. The H1 2026 chart covers January to June 2026 and can be filtered by investor type (46 investors: 34 VC, 6 public, 1 corporate, 4 accelerator, 1 angel).
The page shows ranks and names; per-firm round counts are available via chart download (CSV) but are not shown in the page text. Rank numbers 23 and 32 are skipped, which suggests shared ranks, but ties are not labeled.
Ranked positions: Each item has a position (1, 2, 3), with ties allowed. Investors cannot apply or pay; the chart is generated from Dealroom's database. Dealroom sells data subscriptions and investors can claim and update their Dealroom profiles.

History
Dealroom has long published 'most active investor' tables in its quarterly Germany Tech Update reports and in earlier Europe-wide blog posts. The interactive H1 2026 country charts appear to be a new format; no earlier edition of this exact chart was found.
How it is received
No attributable commentary on this chart was found. Dealroom data are widely used by European governments and media, and public co-investors (HTGF, Bayern Kapital, NRW.BANK, IBB) rank high because the metric counts rounds joined regardless of size.
Strengths
- Simple, transparent metric (distinct venture rounds backed).
- Covers all investor types with a type filter.
- Free and interactive, with CSV and PNG downloads.
- Consistent format across eight European country cuts.
Weaknesses
- Round counts are not shown in the page text.
- Public and angel-style investors dominate because size and leadership are ignored.
- Publication date is not shown on the page.
- New format with no track record yet.
Open questions
Facts not verified yet. They stay visible so they are not mistaken for settled facts.
- Publication date of the H1 2026 chart (likely July to September 2026) is not shown.
- Per-firm round counts and tie structure (skipped ranks 23 and 32) were not retrieved.
- Other country cuts exist: France, United Kingdom (leader SFC Capital by display rank), North of England, Netherlands, Nordics, Italy and Spain; they could be modeled as separate series.
- raw_location is set to the market measured, not each firm's HQ.
