How the ranking works
The report covers venture capital and growth equity deals publicly announced through regulatory filings or press releases, with a data cutoff (December 11, 2025 for the 2025 report). The top investors chart ranks investors by number of climate deals, broken out by stage in some years. CTVC updates its dataset continuously, including post-dated deals, so figures can differ from earlier editions.
The ranked chart is published as an image in the newsletter and in the downloadable report; only a few names appear in text.
Ranked positions: Each item has a position (1, 2, 3), with ties allowed. Investors cannot apply or pay; the chart comes from CTVC/Sightline deal data. The full report requires a request form and deeper investor breakdowns are for Sightline clients.

History
CTVC says the January 2026 report was its fifth year publishing the annual investment report, implying a first report in early 2022. Newsletter versions with investor commentary were found for the 2023 report (January 5, 2024), the 2024 report (January 7, 2025) and the 2025 report (January 6, 2026). The 2025 edition was branded as Sightline Climate's report. In 2025 corporates and governments entered the top investors list for the first time.
How it is received
CTVC's annual numbers are widely cited in climate tech media. No attributable criticism of the investor chart was found. The chart's image-only format limits reuse.
