Overview

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar, founded in 2005. It is headquartered in Doha, with a subsidiary in New York (QIA Advisory). QIA aims to strengthen Qatar's economy by diversifying investments into new asset classes, building on a heritage of investments that date back over three decades. The organization focuses on long-term investments across various asset classes, including listed securities, property, alternative assets, and private equity, while adhering to strict financial and commercial disciplines. QIA seeks socially, economically, and environmentally responsible investments, prioritizing balanced and sustainable growth to maximize long-term returns.

QIA announced an additional US$2 billion for its venture Fund of Funds on February 1, 2026, bringing the stated total commitment to US$3 billion. The initiative develops Qatar's venture ecosystem through fund-manager relationships and local activity. It should not be described as a direct US$3 billion startup grant pool. QIA also partners in CDL-Doha and ESMT's DEEP Qatar research-commercialization activities.
