Nýsköpunarsjóður - New Business Venture Fund

Nýsköpunarsjóður, or the New Business Venture Fund, was established through the merger of the Icelandic New Business Venture Fund and Kría. The fund aims to preserve the strengths of its predecessors while fostering innovation and investment opportunities in Iceland. It operates as an evergreen fund, focusing on seed to early growth stage companies across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, and energy. The fund has contributed to financing over 200 companies, deploying approximately ISK 25 billion. Its initiatives include flagship seed funds like Frumsjóður 2023 and 2025, aimed at supporting new businesses.

Nýsköpunarsjóður adds value to its portfolio companies by providing not only financial support but also access to a network of partners and resources. The fund's government-backed mandate allows it to fill market gaps and catalyze additional private investment, ensuring that entrepreneurs have the necessary support to execute their ideas and grow their businesses.
