The ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Norway was founded in August 2018 as the 20th center in the European-wide ESA BIC network. It is managed by Kjeller Innovasjon in collaboration with StartupLab, Fremtidens Industri, KPB, and Norinnova. The center supports over 250 startups annually and aims to foster the growth of the Norwegian space industry, which is focused on satellite-based services for communication, navigation, and earth observation.
ESA BIC Norway invests in startups and business ideas that utilize space-based technologies for new products or services on Earth (downstream), develop solutions for use in space (upstream), adapt innovations from other sectors for the space industry (spin-in), or facilitate technology transfer from space technologies to terrestrial applications. The organization aims to fund and develop 40 startups over the next six years.
