Ask us to cover an organization, program or place

What we need to consider adding something, what the bar is, and why an answer is sometimes no.

What to send

Through the partnerships topic:

  1. What it is: an organization, a program, a place, a podcast.
  2. The official URL where it publishes about itself.
  3. One sentence on who it is useful to.

That is genuinely all. Do not send a press kit.

What the bar is

A page publishes when there is enough public, sourceable information to make it useful to someone deciding what to do next. Not when something merely exists.

That means a new organization with a landing page and no published detail usually will not get a page yet. It is not a judgment about the organization. A page with three facts on it wastes a reader's time and ours.

What we will not do

  • We will not add something because it paid, because nobody can pay.
  • We will not describe an organization the way it would describe itself in a pitch.
  • We will not imply a relationship that does not exist.

If it is your own organization

That is fine and it is common. Say so plainly rather than pretending to be a neutral tipster: it does not lower your chances and it saves everyone a round of email.

What helps most is a page on your own site that states the facts we would otherwise have to guess: who it is for, what it costs, what it gives, and when it is open.

Did this answer it?

If not, say so. Describe what you were trying to do and what happened instead, and the answer usually becomes a better version of this article.
