Surat is in Gujarat, India. AP reported in 2025 that lab-grown alternatives and restrictions on Russian-origin diamonds were pressures on Surat’s diamond industry. Inc42 counted five startup funding deals in Surat totaling $6.9 million in 2023, compared with about $997,000 in 2022; Inc42 also relayed expert views that access to Ahmedabad and Mumbai, local talent, affordability, and connectivity support SaaS and IT activity.

SVNIT says it incorporated ASHINE in Surat in 2017 as a nonprofit technology business incubator recognized by India’s Department of Science and Technology. SVNIT reports that ASHINE supported 67 proof-of-concept projects and nurtured 57 startups, with a FabLab and prototype development and testing equipment. Its official page links to incubation and co-working application forms but does not state an intake deadline. ASHINE lists Urisol among its incubated ventures and describes its technology as recovering water and NPK nutrients through forward osmosis.

AIC SURATi iLAB says Surat Municipal Corporation and Surat Smart City Development Limited established it under the Smart Cities Mission for innovation, incubation, trade facilitation, and skill development. Its homepage advertises startup applications for a Udhna center with 120 co-working seats, but does not state a current intake window. Its published policy describes seed or early-stage support of up to INR 10 lakh subject to approval, a 12-to-14-week accelerator, and no equity sharing; it does not state current call dates.

TechCrunch reported on September 22, 2025, that Surat-based Rocket.new built an AI app-development platform and raised a $15 million seed round led by Salesforce Ventures, with Accel and Together Fund participating. TechCrunch also reported that the company’s 58-member team was primarily in Surat. Climate Angels describes Zero Cow Factory as founded in Surat and focused on animal-free A2 proteins using precision fermentation; its page conflicts on the founding year, which remains unresolved.
