The Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) was established in October 1984 by the University Grants Commission as the first Inter-University Centre (IUC). Located in New Delhi, India, IUAC serves as a research institute within the university system, providing accelerator-based research facilities to support internationally competitive research. Its construction was completed on December 19, 1990, and it has since been a hub for advanced scientific research.

IUAC focuses on accelerator-driven research, aiming to develop competence and promote research in advanced areas of science and technology within Indian universities. The center collaborates with universities, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and other research institutions to provide world-class facilities for research and development.

IUAC offers access to high-energy accelerator infrastructure, including the 15UD Pelletron, superconducting linear accelerator, and various ion beam facilities. Researchers can apply for beam time, utilize advanced materials-science and radiation facilities, and connect with a national research user community.
